Acer XV Ultimate Thriver

Most golfers hit their 3-wood straighter than their driver. The Ultimate Thriver pairs a full 460cc titanium driver head with 3-wood weight and length, so you find more fairways.

Three Wood + Driver = Thriver

Most golfers hit their 3-wood straighter than their driver. Acer took that fact and built a driver around it: meet the Acer XV Thriver. A driver-sized head with the weight of a 3-wood, built at 3-wood length of 43". The result is a club that sets up, feels, and swings just like your 3-wood, but with the forgiveness and distance of a 460cc titanium head.

You may come up 10 to 15 yards shorter than your absolute best drives with a 45" driver, but what you get in return is a second shot hit from the middle of the fairway rather than punching out from under the trees. Customers regularly tell us that they're hitting 2-3x as many fairways with the Thriver compared to their old driver, while giving up very little distance in exchange โ€” in fact, many see an increase in overall average distance due to fewer shanked drives off the tee.

This has been one of our top sellers and best reviewed clubs for years running. Worth a look if the tee box has been costing you rounds.

Acer XV ultimate Thriver

This works much better off the tee. Almost as long as my driver. Looks really cool

Driver

I have used it in a simulator and so far i have increased my distance by 15-20 years. I also have the same length irons and have increased my distance with them also. I will be 70 in April and recommend these clubs to everyone.

Thriver delivers as advertised

I'm 69 and have lost 20 yards in the past year. I just can't generate the clubhead speed that I used to. The increased weight of the Thriver has enabled me to put more force behind the ball -- and that 20 yards has returned! Additionally, the low spin characteristics have increased my roll out. Added bonus: the sound of this driver is far superior to other non-brand name clubs. It has a solid crack that reminds my of a Titleist 915 driver I had years ago!

Shorter club brings Confidence

I love the shorter length. Plus I added an extra large grip. Those two combined gives me extra confidence to swing harder and hit it straighter, without losing much distance. Itโ€™s only logical that if you shorten the distance to your target, you lower the likelihood of a miss-hitโ€ฆ

Good driver

While at first i strongly disliked this driver and the sound it made it did start to grow on me. After playing 10+ rounds with it i am hitting the ball straighter and more accurately. This is NOT a driver if you are looking to crank the ball 300+ yards. Tbh distance in general with this driver is not that great which i would say is the biggest downside. A perfect drive for me I can get 210-220+ carry and it still feels like the ball goes no where. However i will say i am happy to sacrifice some distance to hit more fairways as it is very forgiving.

Does exactly what it says

I gained acccuracy, without losing distance. Maybe 3-4 yards but honestly thats hardly worth bothering about for finding a fairway, or the first cut. Beats OB slices thats for sure.

Build quality is great, delivery times and packaging was good (about a month from ordering, but am in UK not US so thats fine), and price was exceptional.

A good purchase from a relative newbie to golf :)

Reccomended 100%.

Thriver review

I am 5'7" and struggle some with std length driver. Paired this with an SK Fiber Hypersonic shaft. Tried on course today. Very comfortable at address, NICE feel. On three of four holes I used Thriver, nice straight, long drives. It will be in my bag.

Sometimes good

This thing feels a little short, but I hit it pretty well. Distance isn't great but ball seems more controllable. Just ok, but the cost was high for the quality of the club.

great club

A great head on a shorter shaft 44 inch for senior golfer for easy swings and better control

Great head

Ordered the ultimate thriver and it plays amazing, averaging 270 carry with 10-20 yards rollout. Club is pretty heavy though but I feel it helps my tempo.

Let me say what I really love about this driver

If most drivers sound like a thud-y cowbell, this Acer XV Ultimate Thriver sounds like a bright crash cymbal at impact, while the feel of this club is soft and warm. It really is one of the straightest hitting driver to ever be tested here at Jaxon Golf. I was very excited to put my winning driver combination together to settle any tee club debate for my own bag, with this Ultimate Thriver, yes, yes...that my next day's client bought from me right out of my bag bwomp bwomp. C'est la vie so they say. What a stiff and stout 43.5" shillelagh war club! If i didn't also call out the clean looks...those are very pleasing to the eye. I think I'd like to see a more traditional low-key dot alignment marker on the top instead of the Acer logo alignment, or a triangle, chevron, tri-dot arrangement, etc. could all be cool moving into models beyond the SR1. This gets my "buy with confidence" mark of approval and 5-star rating across all categories of look, sound, feel, performance, demand, price point, reliability. I'm honestly just so amazed that I'm the first individual to review and rate this club.

ACER XV Driver

First hit on the range, straight as an arrow and 260 yards, on the course distance was comparable to my playing partners but was more in play.

Nice driver

Only played a coupled of times since I received my acer driver. So far so good. I had to adjust my tee height higher, but I find myself in the fairway more often and I haven't notice any lost of distance (170-200). Would recommend this club to anyone looking for a change.

Sounds ugly but it works!

Because there is extra weight added inside the club head balance out the club's short length, the club sounds ugly when you hit it. But, if you like the ball staying on the fairway more often, this is a great club and that's what I wanted. I probably lost 15 yards or so of distance but I'm probably hitting three or four more fairways each round then I was without it.

Acer XV Thriver

Website easy to use. On time delivery. Craftsmanship correct. Acer vs. old driver= I lost about 20 yards but targeting has improved. I am very pleased with this driver.

Iโ€™ve been hitting it pretty well.

Iโ€™m definitely pleased with my purchase. Iโ€™ve been the most consistent Iโ€™ve ever been off the tee. Itโ€™s not fool proof and you definitely need to practice with it but works. Iโ€™m working on improving my distance with it.

First Driver-Acer XV Thriver

I started playing golf about 8 months ago and this is my first driver. I've used it on the driving range about 7 or 8 times now and on Par 4 holes on the back-nine at the local course.

With an 85mph clubhead speed I'm hitting range balls right at 200 yards, measured by a launch monitor, and generally fairly straight flight paths. On the course I'm getting around 220-230 yards. I'm striving for accuracy and not trying to 'kill' the ball.

The Acer XV is a great compliment to my single length iron set and 3W. I'm sure my drive lengths will increase as my swing improves over time.

Fairway Finder

Wow! I've never been a very "long" hitter so I was concerned at sacrificing any more length by going to a shorter shaft. However, after first going on the range, then playing a round, that concern immediately went to the wayside.

In a nutshell, this club is incredibly easy to hit and bottom line, it goes straight. It only took a few swings on the range to find the right ball position (for me, it's just on the inside of my lead foot) and the right grip. After that, it was bombs away straight down the line with very little dispersion (only about 10 yards typically on either side of my target line which makes it easy to hit fairways and control misses).

When struck well, my old driver would carry about 10 - 15 yards further. Unfortunately, 75% of the time, I had no idea where it'd go and often, it was a wounded duck, a banana slice, or horrible hook. With the Thriver, I was able to step up confidently and strike the ball consistently missing only one fairway the entire round. In short, I'm happy to give up those 15 yards on the one or two holes that I might have done well with the old driver compared with hitting more than a dozen fairways instead.

If you've switched over to the single length philosophy with your irons, and unless you already love your current driver, this is a no-brainer. Bonus points that it doesn't set you back financially any where near the cost of a new "traditional" driver.

Tremendousโ€ฆ

This product performs as advertised. Special thanks to the staff for working with us to help in choosing the right shaft to use on this and other clubs! Finally, it might be just me, but I love the sound of this club when you hit one correctly. VERY satisfying!!! A+!

Perfect driver for my game.

This driver has replaced my Ping G400 SFT. I can consistently hit it over 200yds and keep it in the fairway.

15 out of 15 fairways hit

I've had my standard driver for over 4 years now and like most, lost faith in it a few times over that span. While getting new irons here, I found this Thriver. Thus, I got one to see if it would help improve fairways hit.
After I got my Thriver, I took it course with my standard driver (to compare). While on the range for a 20 min warm-up, I did notice the ball fight was shorter than my standard drive, but with the roll-out, I was only 4-5 yards shorter (Thriver: 298 SD: 303). Thus took it to the course for the real test.
Hitting two drives from the tee box, Thriver and SD, the Thriver I hit all 15 fairways, and with SD I hit 9 of 15. I only noticed at most was a 12-yard difference on a miss-hit drive with the Thriver.
In the end, there is no reason this Thriver should work...but it does and does very well. Make sure you know swing speed and get the right shaft and then start hitting those fairways.

Excellent Quality

Got it at 5 wood length. Have been experimenting with different weight screws. I have hit this club as far as my old driver, if not longer. I have definitely hit more fairways. More time will tell, but so far I love it!

Surprised!

I've only hit it once at the driving range, but was impressed by the accuracy. Almost every shot was straight. It was hard to determine the distance exactly, so time will tell how it correlates on the course. But impressed that I picked it up and wacked it straight from the start!

Awsome playabilty, feel and sound

I love my new ACER XV Thriver, I got this club to improve my driving, which it did. I have improved my driving greatly and added distance. It has a great feel and sound.

Park the ego

As I'm in my early 60s I made the decision to park my ego and exchange my fantasies of hitting big bombs in favor of hopefully finding more fairways, so I am trying out the Acer XV Thriver as part of my new single-length set along with Pinhawk SL fairway metals and irons. I've only hit it during a few range sessions and one round and I'm encouraged by the early results. The 42-inch shaft length takes some getting used to but I am hitting it more consistently in the middle of the face and achieving a good ball flight. I'm definitely hitting it more on target and I can't say that I'm sacrificing much in the way of distance. My previous driver is a 12 year-old Calloway 9-degree and definitely not high-tech. The Acer is also not going to compete with the big brands in terms of tech, but at the price point it seems a good investment to try out the single-length concept. I'm hoping it has some durability. I'll be playing from the white tees and swinging the Acer, and I hope the combination will result in more enjoyable golf in my senior years.

Well worth the investment

Played my first round with it yesterday and was more consistent and longer than with my Taylor Made. Highly recommend!

Thriver

I took the mini thriver out to the range for the first time today about 80% of the shots stayed inside my markers on either side and was getting between 240-260 yards off the tee, have to admit looking forward to taking it to the golf course tomorrow

Very happy

Didn't have time to practice with this club before a golf outing. Fist stroke with it was on the first tee. Hit it around 10 times. Everything stayed in play on a tight course. I did learn that I needed to put it more towards the center of my stance to reduce fade.
