SMT CB/MB-3 Forged Combo Irons

The SMT CB-3/MB-3 combo lets you build one set from two forged head shapes: cavity backs through the long irons for forgiveness, muscle backs in the scoring clubs for feel and control. Both are forged from a steel billet.

For the golfer who wants the best in workability, playability, flight control and feel, a forged one-piece cavity back offers the attributes better players look for. The SMT CB-3/MB-3 combo takes that a step further by letting you build one set from both models โ€” cavity backs through the long irons where forgiveness matters, muscle backs in the scoring clubs where feel and precision take over.

Both heads are forged from a single billet of soft 1020 carbon steel, so the transition through the set is seamless: same material, same lines, same impact sensation, with the head shape changing only where you want it to. You decide where one model gives way to the other, which is the kind of build a tour player gets as a matter of course and most golfers never have the option to specify.

The CB-3/MB-3 combo is for the player who knows their game well enough to know where they need help and where they don't. If the long irons remain a weak point, utility irons are available to replace them when you configure your build.

Almost great

For a player blade that looks so nice, itโ€™s a shame that is has such a jump in the hosel leading into so much offset. Not sure how everyone else feels, but if these had next to 0 offset and maybe a little bit of extra weight in the toe to put the cg smack dab in the middle and about .85โ€ vertical, youโ€™d have an iron Iโ€™d love to play.

Exactly what I wanted.

These clubs are beautiful. Came as ordered. Love the feel and have really enabled me to dial in my swing again. Hadn't played in 3 years, was a PGA club pro. Great club and great service.

WOW!

SMT is not only back, but back with their best players iron yet! These heads are as beautiful as ANY iron I've seen and I've seen a lot since I turned pro in 1976! I ordered a combo set, but loved the muscles so much I ordered the 4,5,6 muscles to go blades all the way. These are truly a special iron.

Really solid clubs

These irons are great. They are weak lofted compared to most clubs today so leave your ego aside for distance... They are very workable and feel perfect out of the middle... With the feedback you would expect on mis-hits from this type of iron.

These are amazing. Looking at them, you would not think they are forgiving, but they are. These clubs are beautiful and perform impeccably. I would put them up against any irons the major brands charge way too much for.

Unbelievable irons

After 52 years of playing golf and countless sets of irons I have hit a home run with these. In a time where manufactures put so much effort in to the complicated cosmetics I appreciate the simple lines and design of this club. The shape of the head the thin top line and narrow sole make this club very classic looking. Here is the best part, made of 1020 steel just like all the big OEM's and selling for less than half I can't think of any reason not to buy these irons. Also the picture on the website does not do justice to these irons. They are absolutely beautiful. There is still something special about the feel of a forged iron and "wow" these deliver. I can not imagine anyone being less than 100% happy with these irons.

Awesome blades

I wanted to move to MBs from my 10-year-old Taylormade CBs but didnโ€™t want to spend $2k+. So, I tried these with dynamic gold X100s. I still am only able to play maybe 10-12 times per year, but in the few rounds Iโ€™ve played, Iโ€™ve shot my career best score (-3 69) as well as a 75. These irons are wonderful. Great control and workability. I feel like they minimize damage on thin mis-hits. I am really enjoying them and highly recommend.
